NWFO1005 Focus Reporting Writing
This 3 day seminar provides a comprehensive overview of how to use the report writing capability of FOCUS to produce reports. Participants learn to use functions and features efficiently and apply FOCUS to real work tasks, be they on the mainframe (MVS or VM) or the personal computer (OS/2 or DOS or Windows) if FOCUS is exploited in command line not GUI mode. Format: Lecture, demonstration, laboratory work, conversation, one-on-on coaching.
NWFO1010 Focus Reporting for Programmers
This 2 day course covers the reporting capabilities of the FOCUS language in depth, permitting programmers to write a variety of report formats using the full capabilities of the Table command without needing knowledge of database creation or maintenance. It also includes the use of the Hold extract file and the file Match facility. We will discuss the internals of report structuring in the Table Matrix and the importance of understanding the internal operation when using the Match command and multiple verb sets. This is a hands-on course in which the student will produce a variety of reports at the computer terminal.
NWFO1020 Focus Reporting for Business UsersFO1020 Focus Reporting for Business Users
This 2 day course is designed to provide End Users having little or no data processing background with the basic skills required for the preparation of reports using the FOCUS Query Language. The scope of study offers two levels of skill: (1) Concepts of the FOCUS database and the Master description; (2) Basic competency in analysis and creation of simple report programs. This is a hands-on, problem solving workshop with ample opportunity to put classroom training to use at the computer terminal.
NWFO1030 Focus 6.0 Database Development
This 3 day course covers the FOCUS 6.0 database development capabilities permitting programmers to write and modify using a variety of transaction types, including sequential files and screen entry. We will exam the internals of the database with emphasis on efficient retrievals for the modify and the implication of reporting. It also includes the use of cross referencing and joining multiple files. We will discuss using the REBUILD command to change the database structure and develop indices. This is a hands-on course in which the student will produce and test a FOCUS database at the computer terminal.
NWFO1040 Focus Advanced Reporting
This 2 day course is designed for the experienced FOCUS report writer who has a need for more advanced FOCUS Reporting Techniques to create “difficult to do” reports. The scope of study includes report generation with file matching and extraction as well as generation of highly formatted non-column and matrix reports. The use of Dialogue Manager to control the execution of reports through menus is explained in a lecture/workshop environment. Upon completion of this course the student will know when and how to use the Define Command and the Compute Statement, how to use the more complex format features, how to create and extract files using a hold file as well as an understanding of reporting from joined, cross referenced and matched files.
